InterContinental Hotels executive and West Virginia University alumna Lara Hernandez will appear on March 21 as part of the WVU College of Business and Economics 60th Anniversary Speaker Series. Hernandez is vice president of Distribution & Relationship Marketing, Americas, for IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) PLC.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Erickson Alumni Center and is co-sponsored by the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, where Hernandez earned her undergraduate degree.
The thoroughbred horse racing industry has a $191.1 million economic impact on Jefferson County, accounting for 1,450 jobs, $36.3 million in employee compensation and $1.9 million in assorted state taxes. Those are the findings of a study announced by theWest Virginia University College of Business and Economics.
The study, conducted by the business school’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research, indicates that the thoroughbred horse industry is an important part of the Jefferson County economy, as it examined the economic impact of this segment of the industry in 2010.
