Describe how your B&E education prepared you for the real world.
The education I received at B&E gave me the foundation and the tools to continue learning and growing throughout my career. The skills learned in business management, accounting / finance, and information technology have given me a broad-based understanding of business processes that enabled me to be an asset to our company.
What has been you most significant accomplishment?
My most significant accomplishment has been the structuring and analysis of the $90 million redevelopment of two town-owned parking lots in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The project required a complex public/private finance and development plan including phasing, design, and value engineering. My 18 months of work have resulted in the competitive selection of a developer, and the project is currently in the final permitting and approval stages with construction planned for the Fall of 2006. The project includes condominium units, affordable housing and ground level retail.
Advice to Students
"My advice would be to try to learn and to absorb as much as you can about every aspect of business functionality. The course exposure at B&E gives you that opportunity."
