Alexander Kurov Ph.D.

Expertise

Dr. Kurov’s research interests are in financial market efficiency, futures markets, commodity markets and behavioral finance. His work examines price discovery, informed trading and the effect of public announcements on asset prices. He teaches primarily graduate courses on derivative securities, alternative investments, quantitative investment analysis and a doctoral seminar in special topics. Dr. Kurov currently serves as the Coordinator of the Finance Ph.D. program.

Dr. Kurov’s articles have appeared in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, etc. His research has featured prominently in international media such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, CNN Money, CNBC, Bloomberg, BBC, etc. He has served as a reviewer for many academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Futures Markets and others.

Dr. Kurov is as an associate editor of the Journal of Commodity Markets and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. In 2009, he was the recipient of the College’s Outstanding Research and Outstanding Teaching Awards.
