Dr. Kayla Follmer is an Assistant Professor of Management at West Virginia University. She earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Penn State University in 2017. Kayla’s research has been published in outlets such as the Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, and Journal of Leadership and Organization Studies.
Her research is broadly focused on diversity in the workplace, with specific interest in understanding the work experiences of employees with mental illness. In particular, Kayla has examined the ways in which stereotypes and stigma influence individual and organizational outcomes. Her research aims to identify organizational interventions that increase workplace inclusivity for all individuals as well as minimize the likelihood of serious consequences associated with mental illness, such as suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
