Gary F. Templeton is a Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University. Dr. Templeton holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Master of Business Administration, Master of MIS, and PhD in MIS from Auburn University. Upon earning his doctorate, he joined the faculty at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and soon after moved to Mississippi State University. He relocated to West Virginia University in January, 2021.
Education
His research has evolved from organizational learning and construct development methods toward addressing messy data problems, particularly non-normality and missing data. Dr. Templeton has more recently researched the economics of information technology-generating firms. He has been published in a number of top journals, including in the areas of MIS, management, and accounting. Notable journals include MIS Quarterly, the Journal of MIS, the Journal of AIS, the Journal of Operations Management, Decision Support Systems, the European Journal of Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, the Journal of Information Systems, the Database for Advances in Information Systems, and the International Journal of Management Reviews. Dr. Templeton has taught over 10,000 college students throughout his career. He has worked with students at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. He has taught in the areas of business analytics, MIS foundations, decision support systems, programming, systems analysis and design, IS senior seminar, information resource management, and advanced research topics. Dr. Templeton occasionally teaches and publishes in the area of healthcare.
