A military and veteran acclimation training focused on educating faculty and staff on how best to work with the military and veteran population on campus.

A panel of industry experts will provide an overview of employee resource groups within their organization and discuss the importance of these groups and other DEI initiatives to employees.

Modern Challenges of the Workforce Panel (WVU Diversity Week Event)

The event featured three incredible panelists from across WVU, including:  

  • Logan Mayhew, CCD Career Development Coordinator
  • Dr. Lisa DeFrank-Cole, Leadership Studies Program Director and Professor
  • Brad Grimes, LGBTQ+ Center Program Coordinator

The panel discussed the current state of the gender, racial, and LGBTQ+ pay gaps, second-generation gender bias, as well as related challenges experienced in the workforce. The panelists brought awareness to these workforce challenges and discussed strategies for addressing them.

“A Long Talk” Anti-Racist experience - February 8th and 15th 4:40-6:30PM


A Long Talk About The Uncomfortable Truth is an anti-racism activation experience.  Participants who self identify to engage in this experience agree to the completion of pre work before entering into the group discussion. This pre-work is a multimedia collection of content reflecting the truth about the history of racism in the United States and the impact it continues to have on our society today.  Completion of the pre-work serves to provide a common foundational understanding of the issue. The “long talk” begins with a two day virtual conference call. Each call lasts 2 hours both days. The calls are orchestrated as reflective conversations, where participants are asked to listen, view, and respond in real time.  The conversations take place in large and small group settings using the breakout rooms feature.
