MS Industrial Relations

WVU’s Master of Science in Industrial Relations is one of the oldest, and most celebrated HR/IR programs in the country. The MSIR program is a full-time program designed to be completed in three semesters. Accepted students will begin in the fall semester, with a planned graduation after completing program requirements at the end of the following fall semester (fall, spring, fall). Students will complete an applied, non-credit internship experience (or equivalent) designed to occur during the summer between the second and third semesters

SHRM
Our SHRM approved MSIR curriculum ranges in topic from employment law to human resources information systems, and is taught by experienced faculty and industry experts.

Cost and Financial Aid

Each spring, the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia University System determines the level of tuition and fees for the following academic year. These costs are averages and can vary depending on the individual. The international trip is mandatory for all domestic MSIR students. However, it is a one-time expense in the summer between the first and second year.

Experiential
Learning

Experiential learning opportunities are embedded into many courses in the curriculum, enabling students to work on meaningful, applied projects while learning core content. Additionally, all students complete an applied internship experience. Many organizations return to WVU each year seeking MSIR students as summer interns, and many of those lead to full time employment offers upon degree completion.
