Robert L. Shell
Mr. Shell is Chairman and CEO of Guyan International, a privately held holding company whose Permco Division is internationally recognized.
They manufacture hydraulic products that serve mobile equipment in the mining, oil, timber, waste management, off-highway and heavy truck industries. Permco has facilities in the United States, Europe and the People's Republic of China. Mr. Shell also chairs Standard Leasing Company (vehicle & equipment leasing), CRW Real Estate, LLC, and PKY Properties, Inc., (real estate holding companies). Mr. Shell formerly chaired Guyan Machinery Company ( a mining machinery and coal preparation equipment manufacturing company in Logan, WV), Guyan Heavy Equipment Company (Wise, VA and Prestonburg, KY), Carolina Hose & Hydraulics (Spartanburg, SC), Southern Hydraulics (West Palm Beach, FL), California Fluid Power (Los Angeles, CA), Arizona Fluid Power (Phoenix, AZ), and Alaska Fluid Power (Anchorage, AK).
Mr. Shell also served as a Director in Portec Rail Products which has locations in Huntington, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Columbus, Settle, Vancouver, Montreal, England and Wales. He currently serves on various bank boards in Florida, Louisiana, West Virginia and Washington, DC. He has been a member of the following civic boards: United Way of the River Cities, Huntington Boys and Girls Club, The Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation, United Huntington Industries, the Marshall Artists Series and the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences (Charleston, WV).
Robert L. Shell, Jr. was born in Abingdon, Virginia to Robert L. Shell, Sr. and Doris Jean Long. Mr. Shell is married to Lena Ji Shell with five children, five grandchildren and four god-grandchildren.
Mr. Shell attended Marshall University and currently serves as chairman on the Marshall University Board of Governors. He formally served on the board of the West Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges and the University of Charleston. He was inducted into the Marshall University Business Hall of Fame in 1999 and in 2004 was honored by having the new Southwestern Regional Juvenile Justice Center in Barboursville named after him. He will be honored at this year’s Education Alliance Dinner on December 4, 2007. Mr. Shell’s hobby is philately.
