Forensic Accounting & Fraud Examination

The Department of Accounting has responded to the demand for forensic and fraud accountants by developing an academic program designed to prepare students for careers in litigation support, forensic accounting and fraud examination. Although many schools offer a single fraud examination or forensic accounting course, very few offer a multi-course certificate program.

WVU Forensic and Fraud Examination Certification

The widespread growth in white-collar crime, litigation disputes, the illegal international movement of money and terrorism financing have greatly raised the demand for forensic accountants, fraud examiners and for professionals who possess those skills. Federal, state, and local governmental agencies need professionals with forensic accounting, fraud examination, litigation dispute and economic crime skills.

Strong demand also exists in private sector areas such as public accounting firms, boutique forensic accounting and fraud examination firms, the banking and financial services industry, and internal audit departments in larger corporations.

With crime scene raid simulations, moot court exercises and training by professionals in the field and award-winning professors, West Virginia University's Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination program is one of the best in the country.

The demand for forensic accountants is high. By developing a multi-course program designed to prepare students for careers in litigation support, forensic accounting and fraud examination, WVU offers a unique experience for students many other schools cannot.
