Student Emergency Assistance

Chambers College Gold and Blue Emergency Fund

The Chambers College Gold and Blue Emergency Fund aids students experiencing short-term financial hardship. Eligible circumstances include, but are not limited to:

  • natural disaster
  • health concerns (student or family)
  • transportation home due to an emergency or death in the family
  • educational expenses (e.g., textbooks, simulations, or other unexpected, required course materials)
  • employment changes (student or family)
  • housing disruptions due to fire, financial hardship, or other urgent circumstances
  • loss of essential items due to emergencies
  • other temporary financial hardship as approved by the Chambers College that will affect your ability to continue your education

Award Information

This fund is available to both undergraduate and graduate students. The maximum award provided is $500 per student for each academic year. These funds are not intended for tuition and fees, but for urgent, unforeseen, temporary assistance. Applications are reviewed individually by the Chambers College. Your financial aid (Cost of Attendance) may impact your ability to receive funding. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of one credit hour at WVU. Additional emergency funding may be available through WVU’s Campus and Community Life.

How to Apply

Interested students should complete the Gold and Blue Emergency Fund Application. It will be reviewed within one business day. You will receive an email with the decision and, if awarded, will receive a refund through Financial Aid.

*Remember that an advisor is available to assist every weekday during walk-in hours, M-F from 1:00pm to 3:30pm without an appointment. You can also email your advisor for assistance. We are here to help and want to make sure you have all of the support you need to complete your degree.

Gold and Blue Emergency Fund Application

Chambers College Gold and Blue Zone

Any student in need is welcome to visit the Gold and Blue Zone located in Reynolds Hall, Undergraduate Programs Office, room 2200. The Zone includes food, hygiene items, and gently used clothing. In addition, there are carts located on the fourth and fifth floors of Reynolds Hall near the elevators. Food and hygiene supplies are available in these locations. Please take only what you need so that we can provide for all who need these resources. The Undergraduate Programs Advising Office is open M-F, 8:15am-4:45pm. Items on the cart are available during Reynolds Hall’s published operating hours. Additional resources are also available at The Rack: WVU Student Food Pantry.
