MAcc Admissions

Admission to the MAcc program is determined by a committee of accounting faculty members. The committee acts upon individual applications within a short period of time after receipt of the completed application. Domestic students should submit their application by July 1 (fall start), December 1 (spring start), or April 15 (summer start). Note: International students complete their application well in advance of March 1 (fall start), October 1 (spring start), or January 15 (summer start).

Admission requirements:

Applicants who have passed the Certified Public Accountant examination or have an Accounting GPA of 3.2 or better are exempt from the GRE/GMAT requirement.

Applicants with an Accounting GPA below a 3.2 are required to submit GRE or GMAT scores. A competitive GRE score above a 300 or GMAT score above 550 is most favorable.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis once all parts of the application are received.

For non-WVU undergraduates or alumni, please have your undergraduate institution send your official transcript to WVU’s Office of Admissions, One Waterfront Place, PO Box 6510, Morgantown, WV, 26506-6510 or electronically to graduateadmissions@mail.wvu.edu.

3+1 for Accounting students who pursue a MAcc

It is possible for students who have completed college credit prior to admission to WVU and who major in accounting to finish their BSBA in three years. They can then begin the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) and complete both in four years.

Students who complete their BSBA in three years (including summers) will be admitted into the MAcc with a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a minimum of 3.2 major GPA. No GMAT score will be required. For those wishing to start in August of their fourth year, application will be made after completion of the fall semester of the third year (January) and prior to July 1st.  Students planning to start in January will apply after completion of the third spring semester (May) and prior to December 1st. To start in the summer following the third year, application will be made after the fall semester (January) and prior to March 1st.
