William M. Sheedy
Bill Sheedy is Executive Vice President of Visa Inc. In his current role, Bill is responsible globally for the company's corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, government relations and Visa's business in Europe.
As a member of Visa's senior executive management committee, his role is further responsible for charting the company's strategic direction and driving growth; expanding the company's relationships with governments and regulators globally; and leading critical initiatives and transactions with Visa's clients and partners across the many countries around the world within which Visa operates.
Over his more than 20 years with Visa, Bill has held many roles to help shape with world's largest payment company and newest member of the Dow Jones Industrial 30. Prior to his current role, Bill was Group President, Americas, and oversaw Visa's business in North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean, across nearly 50 countries. In this role, he was responsible for all bank, merchant and other business relationships in the company's largest region. Previously, Bill was President of the company's North America region. Further, in 2007-08 he played a central role in managing Visa's corporate restructuring that merged seven different Visa organizations into a single global company (Visa Inc.), culminating in March 2008 in what was then the largest IPO in U.S. history.
Outside his responsibilities with Visa, Bill has been pleased to reconnect with his alma mater with a role on the Committee for the WVU College of Business and Economics (B&E) "State of Minds" campaign and honored as the 2014 graduation commencement speaker for the WVU B&E class. Bill is a board member of the U.S. / Russia Business Council and invests much of his free time in a host of activities with two schools in the San Francisco Bay Area: Saint Ignatius College Preparatory High School and Saint Matthew Catholic School.
A native of central Pennsylvania, Bill earned his Bachelor of Science from West Virginia University in 1988, with a concentration in Finance. After leaving Morgantown, he enrolled in and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Thereafter, Bill moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and resides there today, with his wife, Patti, and their three children: Jack, Emma and Daniel.
