Class of 2019 May Commencement

The John Chambers College of Business and Economics Commencement ceremony is Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. in the WVU Coliseum. This ceremony is for students who have completed their degree(s) in August 2018, December 2018 or May 2019. Students intending to complete their degree(s) in August 2019 are also invited to participate in this ceremony. Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony and there is no cost for students or their guests.

Application for Graduation and Diploma

May 2019 Graduating students must complete an online Application for Graduation and Diploma, accessible through DegreeWorks, or STAR, beginning on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. The deadline to apply for May 2019 Commencement was Friday, March 1, 2019. Students who miss the deadline may apply for August 2019 graduation.The Commencement program includes only the names of students who have received their degree(s) in August 2018, December 2018, and who are completing their degree program by May 2019.

Students may confirm receipt of their graduation application by checking DegreeWorks at least 24 hours after submission. There, recorded beneath Academic Standing in the Graduation Application box, is the date of graduation, Spring, 2019.

Fees and Fines

Students must resolve all account balances before the University will release transcripts and diplomas.

Ceremony Attendance

Students planning to attend the ceremony are required to RSVP.  The RSVP link will be posted on this page in mid-March.

Registration and Line-Up

On the day of the ceremony students participating will report to the Basketball Practice Facility beginning at 3:30 p.m. for registration and line-up.

Academic Regalia

Degree candidates are required to wear full regalia. Students may purchase regalia online from Herff Jones or in person from the WVU Book Store. The tassel color for the College is drab. Please see the University website link at the beginning of this page for complete regalia information.

Undergraduate Honor Cords

Cords to designate Latin honors will be distributed to students at the Coliseum upon registration. If you will not be attending the ceremony, please see Amy Roberts-Dixon, B&E 358, the week prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Ceremony Program

During the ceremony, students will be recognized individually by degree program. If you have a double major or dual degree, you will line up with your primary degree program. Professional photographs will be taken and names announced as each student walks across the stage. Students will then return to their seats. At the conclusion of the ceremony, students will exit the Coliseum at the direction of the Faculty Marshals, in orderly fashion during the recessional.

Diplomas are not distributed at the ceremony, but will be mailed after the WVU Office of the Registrar certifies all degrees. Students will receive a folder containing a letter informing them of when to expect their diploma.
