Online General Business

Having a hard time choosing just one area of business? General Business allows you to choose from many different career paths and customize your curriculum to meet your goals.

Interested in general business, but want to earn your degree at your convenience? Our Online General Business (BSBA) program is designed to meet your needs with a customized curriculum–wherever you’re located. We will provide you with what you need for a typical online course, so you can get busy planning your future.

The online undergraduate degree in General Business gives students an overall understanding of business and how organizations operate. You will learn business and management skills, including the ability to research, interpret and use business and financial data. Graduates of this program are well prepared to enter corporate management training programs, or to apply their skills to virtually any industry.

Students must be admitted to the John Chambers College of Business and Economics during the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms. You will plan a customized curriculum with their advisors, taking 30 credits of upper-level business courses, but no more than 9 credits in any specific discipline.

General business majors choose upper-level business course electives from accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality and tourism management, management, marketing, management information systems, and organizational leadership courses.

Military
Friendly

Whether you are a veteran, a reservist, a National Guardsman, or still serving on active duty, West Virginia University is a great place to further your education. The Military Times ranked WVU as the 14th Best College for Vets in 2023. At WVU you will find faculty, staff, and students who want to support you and help you succeed.

WVU offers several resources for current and former military personnel and incentives for online programs as well.

Affordability.

West Virginia University has worked hard to make its programs affordable for military personnel and veterans. WVU is a Yellow Ribbon Program participant, meaning that the university agrees to waive a portion of tuition not covered by the GI Bill. Unlike most universities, WVU participates in the program for all graduate and professional programs. Additionally, the John Chambers College of Business and Economics offers a $100 discount per credit hour to all current and former service personnel pursuing the Online General Business program.

* If the Department of Defense is covering all tuition and online learning fees, you are not eligible for the $100 per credit hour discount.
