How to Upskill this Summer to Maximize Marketability and Career Preparedness

Audience: Sophomores-Recent Graduates

Interested in maximizing your time over the next couple of months to prepare for the future? This session will help you to determine how you can improve your technical skills throughout the summer and beyond. Additionally, our presenter will cover how to identify industry-specific skills according to your major and career path and what you can do to differentiate yourself from other entry-level talent. Delivered by Matthew Smith, WVU alum and CFO of Thundercat Technology.

How to Professionally Network in the Post COVID-19 Digital Age Workshop

July 16 | 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. | Zoom 

Audience: Sophomores-Recent Graduates

The session will cover: 1) How one can brand themselves in the increasingly digital professional landscape 2) Tactics to use to change careers or start and foster professional relationships online. 3) Ways to leverage your WVU Alumni status to meet professionals and expand your network. 4) 20 min “Question and Answer” Session on all things networking, social media, career changes, etc. Delivered by WVU alumni and Equitable Advisors Experts, Alex Abbenante and Cooper Simmerman.

During this session, you will learn how to navigate Handshake's new virtual career fair platform as well as gain tips on networking and personal branding through the eyes of an employer.

Whether you’re applying for part-time campus jobs, internships, or full-time opportunities, a great resume is how you get your foot in the door of any organization. Make sure your resume is ready to impress by signing up for a 20-minute session with one of our employer partners.

Mock Interview Days

September 22 & 23 | Various Time Options | Zoom

Audience: Sophomores-Graduate Students

Mock Interview Days will enable you to practice your virtual interviewing skills, which are more important than ever. These 30-minute behavioral-based interviews will be conducted by HR and industry professionals who will provide you with coaching and feedback throughout the session. Sign-ups will be available via Handshake in August.

Audience: Freshmen-Graduate Students

To streamline the virtual career fair experience for our students this fall, we have paired the WVU Career & Internship Fair with the Chambers College of Business and Economics Career Fair. All Chambers College students are encouraged to attend this event to connect with employers from a variety of industries. Attendees will have the chance to meet potential employers, secure interviews, and build their professional network.

STEM Career & Internship Fair

October 1 | 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Handshake's Virtual Career Fair Platform

Audience: Freshmen-Graduate Students

The STEM Career Fair will connect students with employers who are recruiting for internships, co-ops, or full-time opportunities in engineering, computer science, or safety management. MIS, Supply Chain, and MBA students are highly encouraged to attend this event as well as the WVU Career & Internship Fair, In Partnership with the Chambers College.

Think Like a Recruiter

October 14 | 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. | Zoom

Audience: Sophomores-Graduate Students

If you've ever been intimidated by the job search and wished you could peak inside the mind of a recruiter, this session is for you! What do they think about your resume? Why is the application process so long? How many follow up emails is too many? All your questions will be answered during this interactive session. You’ll also learn how to evaluate a company’s culture and determine if you’d be a good fit—interviews are a two-way street, after all.
