The Center for Asian Business housed at the West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics, is dedicated to advancing research, education, and business practices related to Asia. Our goal is to provide our students, faculty, and business entrepreneurs with a comprehensive and diverse business and cultural exposure through promoting conducting cutting-edge research, offering innovative programs and initiatives, and fostering partnerships and collaborations with industry, academia, and communities in Asia and beyond.
Mission
The Center for Asian Business is dedicated to promoting research, education, and business practices through facilitating academic collaboration, advancing knowledge and cultural exchange, and advocating for sustainable and innovative business practices between the United States and Asian countries.
Priorities
Our priorities include advancing global engagement, recruiting and engaging with international students, facilitating research on Asian business practices, promoting international business education, and fostering international trade and business cooperation.
Our Programs
The Center for Asian Business is dedicated to facilitating the following programs:
International Students Recruiting and Engaging InitiativeThis program aims to promote the college’s programs and recruit international students and provide them with a welcoming and supportive environment, assisting them in navigating the admissions process, acquiring student visas, and getting acclimated to campus life. Through the program, international students will have access to a range of resources and services to ensure their success.
International Collaborative Program for Global EngagementThe collaborative initiatives endeavor to foster educational exchange and cooperation between WVU and its counterparts in Asian countries for the purpose of enhancing the University's efforts in internationalization and diversity of campus.
Research on Asian Business PracticesThis program leverages the expertise of our world-class faculty and research partners to provide students with insights into the unique business practices, cultural traditions, and economic trends of Asia, helping students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today's global economy and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities and nuances of the global marketplace.
Study Abroad in Asia ProgramBy studying abroad in Asian countries, our students and faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with leading academics and business experts in their field, and be exposed to different perspectives, ways of life, and academic approaches that broaden their horizons and challenge their assumptions. This exposure fosters a sense of cultural competency and global awareness, which are essential skills in today's interconnected world.
International Exchange/Visiting Student ProgramThis program fosters academic exchange between WVU and institutions in Asia, enabling exchange/visiting students to engage in a wide range of academic activities. Through this program, visiting students and scholars have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of academic disciplines, gain exposure to new perspectives and ideas, and establish valuable international networks.
Business Executive Education ProgramThe program is designed for Asian business executives seeking to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills in various aspects of business management. Our program is typically structured as a short-term, intensive course featured with field business visits and focuses on leadership, strategic management, finance, marketing, and other key areas of business, and are often delivered by experienced business leaders and academic experts.
Foster International Trade and Business CooperationWe are committed to creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs in West Virginia to connect with international markets and partners, and to explore new opportunities for growth and innovation. We work with a range of partners, including multinational corporations, trade organizations, and business associations, to promote West Virginia's business strengths and connect local businesses with international partners.
Alumni Networking and Engagement InitiativeThe program serves to promote the professional development of alumni by creating opportunities for them to network with each other, engage with the university, and access a range of resources and services. Through the initiative, alumni based in Asia will have access to a range of events and activities, including networking receptions, professional development workshops, and cultural events. By fostering a sense of shared identity and purpose, the initiative aims to create a lasting relationship between the university, the College, and its alumni in Asia.
