Frequently Asked Questions

Student Expectations

Oftentimes, the perks or events in the Career Readiness Program involve opportunities to network and connect with employers. These employers are asked to participate knowing that the students involved in the event go above and beyond to be career ready. This means that it is your responsibility to RSVP to events only if you are serious about attending.

If there is a conflict with an event you previously RSVP’ed to, it is then your responsibility to notify someone in the Center for Career Development 24 hours prior to the event. It also expected that while in attendance at the event, you are wearing professional attire and demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.

How do I join?

Emails are sent to all eligible students at the beginning of the academic year. Several CRP information sessions will be held that you can attend to learn more and get signed up. If you are interested in joining at any point, please send an email to Abby Buehler ( Abigail.buehler@mail.wvu.edu).

Where do I find the requirement checklist and choices for my status?

The Career Readiness Program is housed with eCampus and looks similar to an academic course. For each status, there is a list of required activities with directions on what needs to be completed and what needs to be submitted. If you’re ever unsure, always feel free to reach out!

How do I notify the CCD when I complete a status requirement?

Within eCampus, there are “assignments” for each of the requirements you must complete for your selected status. When you complete a requirement, there are directions about what needs to be submitted in the eCampus assignment tab. After you submit this, we can check off that you completed this requirement.

Do events or workshops I attend as part of my student organization count for the CRP?

The CRP is designed to be flexible and being involved on campus is a great way to gain the experience and skills that employers are looking for! You are always welcome to ask about any student organization events you feel meet the competencies. We also partner with student organizations to offer a reward for the Chambers College student organization with the highest percentage of members participating in the CRP!

How do I know which status is right for me?

If you are a 2nd semester freshman, you will automatically be enrolled as a CRP recruit. Sophomores, juniors and seniors have flexibility to complete Gold or Platinum, if cumulative GPA requirements are met. Seniors who have been in the program for at least one (1) academic year and have completed an internship can become a CRPro. Any students who joins the program during their senior year would be directed to complete either Gold or Platinum status.

Can I switch to another status at any time?

While we do ask which status you would like to pursue at the beginning of the year, you are always welcome to change your mind. Just email us and let us know which status you’re switching to and make sure you meet the eligibility requirements.

Do I have to rejoin every semester or every year?

The Career Readiness Program is a yearlong program, so you do not need to rejoin every semester. We will send information at the beginning of each academic year to help you enroll in the new Career Readiness Program course in eCampus. At the beginning of each academic year, the program will start over with new events, workshops, and perks.

How do I become eligible to receive an alumni mentor?

The alumni mentorship program will begin in Spring 2022. More instructions on this program will come out in January 2022. Any Gold or Platinum participant is eligible to receive an alumni mentor. Priority matching is given to students who are pursuing Platinum status, as it is a required component. Gold status students are eligible to do the full mentorship program or to engage in “flash mentoring”, which allows for flexibility in how often you and your mentor meet.

Do I receive class credit for CRP?

The Career Readiness Program is a voluntary program and does not count for class credit. Participation will not affect your GPA or have any effect on your academic transcript.
