Health Care MBA Essentials™

The WVU Health Care MBA Essentials Program is designed to address the growing need for business/management education for those responsible for strategic decision making in hospitals, practices, and clinics in the region. It will attract physicians, department chairs, nurse managers, pharmacists, dentists, and departmental managers without formal business education and those who need a refresher in contemporary business practice.

The course objectives include: broadening participants' understanding of contemporary business practices; tools to strengthen participants' business and financial decision making skills; negotiation techniques and conflict resolution methods; the basic principles to analyze and interpret financial statements; and tools to better manage change in the work environment. This highly interactive 12 topic program is designed to empower participants with business knowledge and strong management skills necessary to thrive in the complex and rapidly changing health care environment.

Note: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the WVU School of Medicine and the WVU School of Business and Economics Center for Executive Education.
