Cloud Analytics Faculty Fellows

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Think how much the weather impacts our daily lives. As earth’s weather and climate patterns continue to change, WVU faculty and students can help find solutions to weather challenges in our communities.

The Cloud Analytics Faculty Fellows program trains faculty to use data in the classroom as a pathway to solve a broad range of climate and weather problems.

Fellows will infuse data and tools to innovate their current class offering, enhancing student skills in data mining, problem solving, critical thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship.

How it works

Through extensive training and professional development, faculty fellows will learn how to build course curriculum that exposes students to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data through analytics tools provided by cloud service providers.

Fellows will work alongside experts from:

  • Data Driven WV at West Virginia University
  • The High Technology Foundation
  • NOAA Open Data Dissemination (NODD)

Why it matters

The goal of the program is to increase entrepreneurial thinking and innovation in WVU classrooms and, ultimately, create more West Virginia startups and business ventures to meet consumers wants and needs in the climate and weather sector.
