Recruitment Policies

Interview No-Call/No-Show

Once you have confirmed a time for an on-campus interview, you have taken away an opportunity from another student; therefore, it is critical that you can cancel more than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled interview or honor your commitment.

Policy Implications
If you do not show up for your interview or cancel less than 24-hours in advance, your access to Handshake will be suspended until issue is resolved.

Unique Scenarios:
Meet with a representative from the CCD if you need to discuss the situation in further detail.

Job Offer Reneging Policy

A job acceptance is a major commitment to your new employer. You should only make this type of commitment if you intend to honor it.

Reneging can severely damage your reputation, not only in the short-term, but also for the duration of your career. Reneging also has negative implications on the University’s relations with the employer and can affect opportunities for other WVU students.

Policy Implications
If we learn that you have reneged on an accepted offer for an internship or full-time position, your access to Handshake will be suspended until a member of our team has had the opportunity to assess the situation and determine appropriate next steps.

Unique Scenarios:
Meet with a representative from the CCD if you need to discuss your situation in further detail.

NOTE: This policy deals with you reneging on your commitment to a company. It does not address a company revoking its commitment to you. If this type of situation arises, please contact the CCD.
