B&E marketing professor recognized for service-learning education

A member of the marketing faculty at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics has been recognized with the 2018 Award for Excellence in Service-Learning Instruction.

Dr. Li Wang , a teaching assistant professor of marketing at B&E, was recognized by WVU on April 19 with the award, one of the Excellence in Civic Engagement Awards presented by the university. Service-learning courses are a priority at WVU because they encompass experiential learning while creating a meaningful impact on the community.

class at nasdaqMORGANTOWN, W.Va. — When Fairmont, West Virginia-based MVB Financial Corp. rang the Nasdaq closing bell in New York City on March 28, you could hear that bell all the way back at West Virginia University.

The present met the past at Nasdaq that day, as finance students at the WVU College of Business and Economics joined MVB officials — many of whom are B&E alumni — at the podium for the ceremonial ringing. It had already been a big week for the business school students, who had also visited the New York Stock Exchange, globally recognized financial companies and alumni such as Wall Street executive Penni Roll, a B&E alumna who is CFO of Ares Capital Corporation in New York.

MBA student fosters inclusive environment at WVU, recognized by ISO

Whether it is through music or just simply a kind act, Dollar Agbemadon goes out of his way to encourage and strengthen the diverse and inclusive culture on the West Virginia University campus. And recently, the MBAgraduate student was recognized by the WVU International Student Organization for his outstanding efforts to promote understanding between the community and international students.

Agbemadon is a native of Accra, Ghana. He earned his undergraduate degree in management from the WVU College of Business and Economicsin 2015. Now, as a graduate student, he says he can remember what it was like embarking on this journey in a place where he didn’t know anyone.
