Frank Alderman, MD, is CEO of MedExpress, an innovative ambulatory healthcare platform
delivering healthcare services at retail. In founding the Company in 2001, he and
his colleagues sought to provide a customer-service approach to health care and address
the need for access to high quality, patient-centric, affordable care.
Under Dr. Alderman’s stewardship, MedExpress has experienced exponential growth and
success while maintaining its focus on providing a best-in-class patient experience.
MedExpress has partnered with leading private equity and venture capital firms
inclusive of Sequoia Capital, General Atlantic and Excellere Partners. Most recently,
MedExpress joined Optum, a division of UnitedHealth Group, a Fortune 6 Company.
MedExpress currently operates more than 200 neighborhood medical centers across
16 states, serving millions of patients each year.
In 2012, Dr. Alderman was the recipient of an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the
Year Award and was also awarded Ernst and Young’s Venture Capital Award of Excellence.
In 2014, he was selected to be a member of WVU School of Pharmacy’s Centennial
Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame.
Dr. Alderman is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and
serves on the board of the WVU Foundation. In addition, he is a member of Optum’s
Office of the CEO.
Dr. Alderman holds both a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and a medical degree from
West Virginia University. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at WVU
and obtained board certification.
