Gee Mail: The season of outcomes, 2022 Commencement

After navigating an unsteady world of events, as many as 4,500 new graduates will walk the stage at West Virginia University’s 2022 Commencement, which returns to the WVU Coliseum and Canady Creative Arts Center following two years of pandemic-restructured ceremonies.

In the latest edition of Gee Mail, President Gordon Gee acknowledges the dedication and resilience of the Class of 2022 as graduates prepare for their next journeys.

“Merriam-Webster defines an outcome as ‘something that follows as a result or consequence,’” Gee said. “These students worked smart and played smart at our beloved University, and as a result, the world holds endless opportunities.

“At West Virginia University, it is our calling to foster meaningful experiences and life-changing education that leads to positive outcomes.”

Among those speaking with Gee include Rudi Safarudin, a first-generation college student from Indonesia studying pharmacyLillian Rhinehart, a Foundation Scholar and Order of Augusta recipient from Elkins; and Torey Wright, an engineering student from Monroe, Georgia.

Commencement ceremonies will be held Friday (May 13) through Sunday (May 15). For more information, visit graduation.wvu.edu.
