Gerald (Jerry) MacCleary is president of Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS) for the NAFTA region and serves as the senior representative for Bayer in Pittsburgh and the larger Allegheny County area communities.

MacCleary also leads the Polyurethanes business for the NAFTA region of BMS, a responsibility he has held since 2004.

Prior to these roles, MacCleary was head of Performance Systems at Bayer Polymers, where he was responsible for leading and implementing business strategies for various plastics and nylon products for such industries as automotive, insulation and injection molding.

MacCleary joined Bayer in 1979 and assumed positions of increasing responsibility within accounting, sales, marketing manager, and strategic leadership. He also completed two international assignments in Germany.

MacCleary serves as President of the Board of Directors for The International Isocyanate Institute and as a board member of the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry, the American Chemistry Council and the National Association of Manufacturers.  

In the Pittsburgh region, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Senator John Heinz History Center, the United Way of Allegheny County and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.

He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from West Virginia University.

MacCleary is married, has three children, and resides in Venetia, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh.
