Meet Dylan Istre

Meet Dylan Istre

Embarking on a new chapter of life in an unfamiliar place can be both daunting and exhilarating. For Dylan Istre, a military student hailing from Maryland, the decision to pursue higher education at West Virginia University offered a chance to build a promising future.

Through his determination, academic pursuits, and strategic networking, Istre has transformed his passion for finance into a fulfilling career with CAE in Tampa, Florida.

Having served in the military, Istre brought a unique perspective and a set of valuable experiences to his collegiate journey. Reflecting on his time in the military, Istre shared, "Being in the military has provided me with a very personal and applicable experience in things like leadership and management." These qualities not only matured him as an individual but also played a pivotal role in his academic and professional success during his undergraduate years.

Driven by his interest in investments and the desire to create wealth, Istre decided to major in finance at WVU. His choice was influenced by a deep-rooted curiosity about how financial strategies could contribute to the growth of companies. He believed that acquiring financial skills would empower him to make significant contributions to the corporate world. With a clear vision and unwavering determination, Istre began his journey towards a career in finance.

While pursuing his finance degree, Istre also took on the role of a Chambers College Peer Mentor. This position allowed him to interact with students and leverage connections within the Chambers College Center for Career Devlopment (CCD). It was through this network that Istre had the opportunity to meet an esteemed alumnus who would become both a lifelong friend and a mentor.

Describing the meeting as "phenomenal" and "right up his lane," Istre expressed his enthusiasm about the networking opportunity that emerged. During a weeklong visit, he met with his mentor multiple times, establishing a strong foundation for their relationship. The pair also bonded over their shared passion for WVU football, culminating in a memorable experience at a football tailgate. Istre understood the importance of investing time and effort in nurturing this mentorship, and it ultimately paid off in more ways than one.

Thanks to the mentorship he cultivated and the skills he honed during his time at WVU, Istre recently accepted a full-time job offer from CAE, a prominent company based in Tampa, Florida. With his financial acumen and leadership qualities, he is well-equipped to make significant contributions in his new role. Istre's success story serves as a testament to the transformative power of education, networking, and leveraging unique experiences to secure a prosperous future.

Istre Istre's journey from a military background to a successful career in finance is a testament to his dedication, determination, and ability to seize opportunities. Through his time at WVU, he not only gained valuable knowledge and skills but also forged lifelong connections. Istre's story serves as an inspiration to aspiring students, demonstrating that with the right mindset and proactive networking, one can overcome challenges and achieve their professional goals.

As he embarks on this new chapter with CAE, Istre is poised to make a significant impact in the financial industry, all while cherishing the memories and friendships he created during his time at WVU.
