Let's Talk Business: Why the Center for Career Development Should be in Your Resource Toolkit

Jumpstart your job search with the Center for Career Development, an exclusive resource for Chambers College students.

As a first-generation college student, I came into college not knowing what I wanted to do with my future or how to set myself up for professional success. On my own, this felt like an impossible mountain to climb, but the Center for Career Development made this process much more manageable and rewarding than I could have imagined.

The CCD helps Chambers College students discover career opportunities that align with their interests and goals. Through tailored experiences and programs, it can enhance your career readiness and sets you up to land your first internship or full-time position.

The staff at the CCD provide many different student services that we can leverage. They create specialized strategies for career exploration, planning, and job searching, and provide one-on-one resume reviews and mock interviews to prepare you for job applications and interviews.

That only begins to scratch the surface of what the CCD can do for you. With a complimentary CliftonStrengths assessment, you can engage in a coaching session that will provide a personalized analysis of ways to better understand and leverage your strengths. Thanks to strong alumni employer relations, you can network through events like Meet the Firms, Finance Professional Image Night, and the Business and Communications Career and Internship Fair.

As a student, I have fully taken advantage of the resources that the CCD provides. Before attending career fairs, I always schedule a resume review to provide the best version of my resume to employers at the fair. Any time I have an upcoming interview, I schedule a mock interview where I am given constructive feedback on how I can improve my responses.

Because of the CCD staff and their services, I’ve landed internships with Target and Synchrony Financial, where I was offered a full-time role post-graduation. The CCD should be in every student’s resource toolkit and can help propel you forward personally and professionally.
