WVU Hosts Cybersecurity Panel

In business, success often means breaking down walls, but some walls are better left up – that is, as long as they’re firewalls.

On Tuesday, March 28, WVU partnered with Leidos to host a cybersecurity panel discussion and networking event. Industry experts, Chambers College faculty and faculty from the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources educated students on the current possibilities and future outlook of the field.

Student Profile: Katherine Rexroad

With a true passion in her multiple areas of study, Katherine Rexroad has been hooked on West Virginia University’s idea of thinking big since the beginning of her college career.

Hailing from Clarksburg, W.Va., Katherine is a junior in accounting and management information systems, while also minoring in data analytics. And she readily admits that she attributes her passion for her studies to WVU and the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.

Student Profile: Frank Kerekes

This double-majoring sophomore in Management Information Systems and Hospitality and Tourism Management has found that his key to success is beginning early.

It is Frank Kerekes’ first year at WVU, but he has already achieved his studies in the Honors College, working at a financial institution as a branch office administrator and involvement with various clubs.

New MIS professor wants to bridge gap between industry and research

Portrait of Stephane CollignonOnly about five months removed from earning his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, Dr. Stephane Collignon has hit the ground running with teaching and research at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics.

A native of France, the assistant professor of management information systems and his wife Olga Bruyaka, an assistant professor of management at B&E, and their two sons have found their home in Morgantown.

A great example of that cycle is found in   human resource management expert Cris DeBord, WVU’s newest vice president of talent and culture.

MSIR alumna, PepsiCo VP gives back through scholarship

“There is this old saying, ‘Be kinder than you need to because you never know what people are carrying with them.’ And I think that is very true. You never know what burdens people are carrying with them, and so I try to follow the philosophy of being as kind as possible,” Tina Bigalke, Vice President of HR Global Operations, Global Procurement & R&D at PepsiCo, said about advice she gives gives to students today.
