MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

This double-majoring sophomore in Management Information Systems and Hospitality and Tourism Management has found that his key to success is beginning early.

It is Frank Kerekes’ first year at WVU, but he has already achieved his studies in the Honors College, working at a financial institution as a branch office administrator and involvement with various clubs.

He is also a Gold Member in a program named the Career Readiness Program, where he gets valuable experience for his future career through meeting employers, participating in events and bettering his portfolio.

“Being in the CRP has really helped me get my name out there and network with future employers,” Frank said. “I have met many faculty and staff in the Chambers College that I wouldn’t have been able to get in contact with without the CRP.”

He said WVU has helped him in many ways. From gaining crucial community volunteer hours in his Honors Business Core class to meeting interested recruiters to gaining networking skills in the CRP, Frank is gaining an early advantage.

Naturally, he has big plans for his future. In summer 2019, Frank will be traveling to Dubai for a study abroad program in his Hospitality and Tourism Management major.

“I am hoping this trip will give me valuable experience and a look into how the most developed city in the world operates,” he said.

“After I receive my undergrad, I plan on pursuing a master’s in data analytics. After that, I hope to work as an event planner and eventually take over my father’s investment office and become a financial advisor.”

He attributes much of his career preparation to the CRP. 

“The CRP helps get you a step ahead of other students,” he said with a smile. “It’s been a tremendous experience so far.”
