FinTech update

West Virginia seeks to be home to some of the most innovative companies in the country — including in the insurance industry. To foster that innovation, the West Virginia Legislature passed HB 2221 this past session. On the heels of its unanimous vote last year to be the fourth state in the country to enact the creation of Regulatory FinTech Sandbox, West Virginia's Insurance regulators have opened the door to companies with great ideas for new insurance products to apply for an innovation waiver to make those ideas a reality.

Watch for Vantage Venture's announcement of incoming FinTech start-ups to West Virginia. In the meantime, you can read the bill around insurance innovation in its entirety here.
