Talk to Naimat Khani for an hour or two and you’ll quickly learn how true that is. A sophomore at the Chambers College, Khani is majoring in management with an emphasis in human resources.

The Accounting department was informed by AACSB in May 2020 that the department has achieved accounting accreditation for five additional years.
The forensic accounting group conducted its first ever virtual residencies. Pitch-to-Prosecutor, Crime Scene Investigation - Financial, Interviewing for Deception and Moot Court were all conducted using virtual platforms. Moot court included 20 participating lawyers from Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC.
MAcc Coordinator Gary LeDonne, along with Accounting 200, 201, 202 TAPS Nancy Lynch and Cindy Dalton put together a teaching assistant program this summer to support large online sections of these courses. The participating MAcc students will help ensure that entry-level undergraduate students have high levels of support, quick feedback to questions and a more personalized experience.
Professors John Treu and Ji Woo Ryou had articles accepted in the Accounting Review this summer. Ji Woo Ryou also had an article accepted in the Journal of Corporate Finance.
The Board of Governors voted to accept the recommendations of the Graduate Councils for MS Forensic and Fraud Examination to continue with its current level of activity.
The American Accounting Association (AAA) recognized Lauren Cooper, D. Kip Holderness, Jr., Trevor L. Sorensen, and David A. Wood as the recipients of the 2020 Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award for their article "Robotic Process Automation in Public Accounting," published in the December 2019 issue.
Professor Christian Schaupp’s international efforts in the Honors Program continue to receive recognition. His proposal for the Virtual Exchange Faculty Grant has been accepted for his project utilizing global consulting projects with Münster University of Applied Sciences, Fulda University of Applied Sciences, and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana.
Each spring, the Corporate Social Responsibility class within West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics offers monetary grants to support community initiatives, and non-profit agencies serving the greater Morgantown area are encouraged to apply for the 2020 grant.
“Part of the objective of the class is to learn to function as a Board of Directors who have operations over this foundation of money,” said Suzanne Gosden Kitchen, assistant chair of the Department of Management. “They have to figure out how to get agencies to apply for the money, and then they have to make deliberations on how to award out the money."
Whether this West Virginia native is cheering at sporting events or building her portfolio, Brooke Harlow knows how to keep busy.
In one of those positions, Brooke will be the Peer Career Coach with the Center for Career Development, where she will help students prepare for both their careers and their internship opportunities. In the other, she will be an intern at Fortune 500 company PepsiCo, where she will gain hands-on sales experience.
With her freshman year now behind her, business major Madelyn Oberschmidt has already proven that she will be an outstanding student in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics — all while being an athlete.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — There are common threads that run through three West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics faculty members who have been named endowed chairs: a passion for research and using the knowledge generated from their research in the classroom. All three have also created unique, experiential learning opportunities for their students that take them outside the classroom and into the real world.
That sense of purpose and zeal in two different, but related, areas of study have prompted a high level of engagement by their students and a continued demonstration of resourcefulness in taking on the challenges of the business world. As a result, Chambers College leadership worked with Sears Holding Company to reconfigure the company’s support to the college, converting an existing endowed chair into three endowed chairs.
