Experiential learning is what differentiates us at the
College of Business and Economics. We’re all about the student experience,
blending learning-by-doing with classroom education. The creation of the
Student Managed Investment Fund — thanks to the generosity of 10 donors
— opened incredible doors of opportunity for
Finance students and serves as a great example as to the value of the
real-life experience. Over the course of more than a year, we’ve captured the
experiences of these students since the
fund was created: a trip to the floor of the New York Stock Exchange; interaction
with B&E alumni working in the Financial District; meetings with investment
bankers and valuation experts connected to Wall Street; participation in an academic
conference on asset management; taking part in a Stock Pitch Day; and visiting
Nasdaq, including participation in ringing the bell at the stock exchange with
a West Virginia-based company! The careers of tomorrow start with the real-life
involvement students have today. That is the new mantra of WVU’s business school.
We encourage you to watch this video and look inside the experiences of B&E
students.
