Our motto holds true: Mountaineers go first.
Deanna Crumm, founding officer for WVU's first-ever Women in Business (WiB) student organization, embodies the spirit of adventure and excellence that defines the Mountaineer community. WiB received the Outstanding Online Presence Award for two consecutive years, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, a testament to Crumm's leadership and the organization's success.
Crumm's impact extended beyond WiB, as she excelled individually and helped other undergraduate business students find their passions. Engaging in experiential learning opportunities and client projects, she received support from the Center for Career Development (CCD) and gained unique perspectives through student organizations and extracurricular activities.
Growing up in Wheeling, West Virginia, Crumm's journey to selecting her major was not straightforward. However, her decision to study at WVU was fueled by the abundance of opportunities and resources available to students. Initially majoring in management, she later switched to marketing due to her affinity for the creative side of business. With a passion for helping others, she added organizational leadership to her studies, and to further differentiate herself, she pursued a business data analytics minor to enhance her skill set.
Crumm's aspirations extend far beyond her personal success. She aims to make a positive difference in her community, relationships, workplace, and the world. Her dedication and drive led her to accept a full-time job with Evoqua Water Technologies in Massachusetts after graduation.
Deanna Crumm's journey exemplifies the spirit of the Mountaineers, where seizing opportunities, pursuing passions, and making a positive impact are paramount. Her story serves as an inspiration to all, emphasizing the power of perseverance, exploration, and embracing opportunities.
As the motto holds true, Mountaineers indeed go first, forging paths of success and leaving a lasting mark on the world.
