As a graduate of West Virginia University, my undergraduate years were significant for my academic inclination, cultural exchange, and personal development. Pursuing good grades is not the only thing for me to aspire to: I also enjoy the cultural atmosphere that WVU has offered.

As a first-generation college student, I came into college not knowing what I wanted to do with my future or how to set myself up for professional success. It’s hard to believe I’m almost done with my degree at the Chambers College. Throughout my time here, I’ve learned a lot through both through my academics and extracurriculars. As a student leader with the Chambers College I’ve had plenty of experience helping both current and prospective students by sharing advice based on my own personal experience, and I’d love to share some of my best advice with you.
One thing I struggled with when I got to college was not knowing how to study effectively. The course load and structure in college can make studying difficult, so developing good study habits early is key. There are lots of effective studying techniques, like the pomodoro technique, repeating things aloud, re-writing notes or key takeaways, reviewing flash cards, or studying with a group.

Q: Where are you originally from and currently living?
A: I am originally from Columbus, OH where I had a six-year career as a forensic
accountant, but I am currently a fraud investigator in Knoxville, TN.

On Saturday, May 11, the Chambers College awarded diplomas to 705 students - 551 undergraduates and 154 graduate students - each becoming part of the fabric of the Chambers College in their journeys to and through West Virginia University.
