Another December has come, and another class of business students is going forth
to change the world.
On Saturday, December 16, 272 students graduated from the Chambers College, 164 of them undergraduates and 108 of them graduate students. They will go on to work at Big Four accounting firms, nonprofits, government agencies. Some will continue their educations; others will focus on building careers.
This Thanksgiving, the Chambers College Hospitality and Tourism Management program was gifted a generous donation from Nemacolin resort and the Hardy family.
This gift is going to change the student experience immensely. The funding that we receive goes towards helping us, the students, get to the places we want to go.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University is on the front lines of building leaders in the hospitality industry, thanks to a student-focused gift from a neighboring luxury resort and the family who has shepherded it to success.
The generative $7 million investment from the Hardy family and Nemacolin resort – announced Friday (Nov. 24) as part of Light Up Nemacolin – will open doors for future generations of Mountaineers majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.

Talk to Naimat Khani for an hour or two and you’ll quickly learn how true that is. A sophomore at the Chambers College, Khani is majoring in management with an emphasis in human resources.

The Chambers College has many resources to help students through those trying times, such as the Becker AeSC and a fully-staffed Advising office. Here at the Chambers College, there are three ways for you to lead – as a Neidermeyer Scholar, Chambers Ambassador and Peer Mentor. Each of these programs offers a unique experience that can develop your professional and personal skills while helping others in the Chambers College.
The Neidermeyer Scholar Program is a peer-to-peer tutoring system designed to help students succeed academically. Neidermeyer Scholars have a time commitment of 15 hours per semester, meeting once or twice a month for training and professional development. Being a Neidermeyer Scholar can grant you valuable leadership skills, networking opportunities and a deeper understanding of course material.
