Personable and tenacious, this senior in Hospitality and Tourism Management has her goals in sight.
Early in her college career, Caroline Morris knew she wanted to work in a management role so she could work with people.
“Nothing is more fun for me than watching other people have fun, and the hospitality industry is the perfect industry for that,” she said. “I love helping to create memorable experiences for guests as so many people have done for me.”
Caroline is currently the vice president of the Hospitality Club and the captain of the STR Student Market Study Competition on campus this year. Caroline’s team recently took first place at the most recent competition, where they studied the Pittsburgh hotel market and created a presentation on the findings, competing with 31 teams worldwide.
“Our faculty is well known throughout the region and the world, and winning the 2017 STR Student Market Study Competition has made our program known among others…I believe that the recognition received by our very young program will help myself and others stand out among other young professionals,” said Caroline.
In the past, she had the opportunity to be an intern in sales management at PepsiCo. Caroline also participated in the Disney College Program, sharpening her sales and guest service skills as a vacation planner.
Now, she’s planning her future. In October 2018, Caroline accepted a full-time position with the Marriott Voyage Leadership Program. She will be working for one year to prepare herself as a future leader in the hospitality industry. In the position, she will be an Event Operations Voyager at Gaylord Rockies Resort & Spa in Aurora, Colorado, a successful example of the John Chambers College of Business and Economics. Let’s go, Caroline!
