Study Essentials ✔️

This week, we shared the above photo on Instagram and asked what your study essentials were. Whether it’s fun pens, several notebooks, coffee or tea, sweet or salty snacks, and of course, Country Roads on repeat, we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to succeed while learning online.

Tips for Success

We’re here to help you succeed. Please reach out to our Chambers College advisors, our Center for Career Development (CCD), and your faculty and staff if you have any questions regarding your class schedule, if you would like a resume review, or if you need further instructions on one of your assignments. You’re not in this alone.

Here are some helpful tips from your Chambers College family and recent University-wide updates to get you through the week:

  • West Virginia University will provide assistance to those who were living in residence halls, University apartments and those who had dining plans. Requests must be made by this Friday, April 10, and your student account refund profile (wvu.afford.com) must be updated. Please, carefully read the letter from WVU officials for important next steps. → WVU Student Emergency Financial Assistance

  • Come chat with us! Our Center for Career Development is hosting virtual drop-in hours with our peer career coaches every Monday – Friday, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., for help with resume reviews, job searches, interview prep and more! Access via Zoom link (https://wvu.zoom.us/j/984349401) or contact the CCD: Sarah.Glenn@mail.wvu.edu

  • Our Chambers College Neidermeyer Scholars have updated their schedule! Please review the new dates and times for virtual help with the following courses: Acct 201, Acct 202, Econ 201 and Econ 225.

  • Have you downloaded your free Adobe Creative Cloud license? If you need access to the software, you can receive a free download until the end of the semester.

  • WVU’s Carruth Center advisors are here to help remotely! The Crisis Text Line is a free, confidential, 24/7 service offered to WVU. Text WVU to 741741 to reach a live, trained Crisis Counselor.

  • Stay informed! We are sharing our Chambers College news and updates from WVU on our social channels. Follow us at @wvuchambers today! → Chambers College Instagram

A Note from Our Advisors

While our doors may be closed, our virtual window is open!

All of our advisors are working from home, so if there is anything at all you need or if you have any questions, please reach out!

They are available to discuss your summer class options, the recent HP/ P/ F option, your fall class schedule and even tips for managing your time.

Remember, WVU has extended the deadline to withdraw from a class to April 24. Please contact your academic advisor at Chambers College before withdrawing from a class. Contact them today: beadvisor@mail.wvu.edu

“I want to thank all of you for your patience, your flexibility and your positive attitudes. Your success is very important to us, so we are here to help you.” – Susan Catanzarite, Advising Director of Undergraduate Programs

Find the Good

Our University will be offline on Friday, April 10, to observe the Good Friday holiday.

While so much of our world is closed during this time of uncertainty, try your best to find something good about your day. For instance, our campus may be closed but the tulips are still blooming – reminding us to bloom wherever we are planted.

Whether it’s writing a letter to an old friend, a FaceTime call to a family member, learning a new skill (those cookies won’t bake themselves) or stepping outside for some fresh air and listening to the sounds of nature – there is still good in this world.

A Helpful Reminder

We know we sound like a broken record, but please stay home, stay safe and stay healthy.

Next week, April 13 - April 17, will start your third week of online learning. Some days fly by and others seem to last forever, but we are all going to get through this together...one day at a time. After all, we are Mountaineers. (yellow heart, blue heart)

Sincerely,

Your Chambers College Family
